Jane Moriarty is a theatre, TV and film director from Ireland.

Jane directed SHUSH, a 25-minute drama produced by Charmer Pictures for RTÉ, written by and starring Liv O’Donoghue. It can be streamed on the RTE Player. Jane was awarded the Young Directors Silver Screen Award 2025 for SHUSH.

Jane’s debut short film KITCHEN TALES, is now featured on BFI Player, starring Nikesh Patel (Starstruck, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Indian Summers) and Sheena Bhattessa (Paddington, Romeo & Juliet), with original music by Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love). Her short films I CALLED YOU and BUSY have screened at BIFA, BAFTA and Oscar qualifying festivals internationally. 

Jane was the Rehearsal Director for Sky comedy-drama series THE LOVERS, working with the lead cast prior to filming and during production. And she was a voice and performance director on the BAFTA-winning video game, BALDUR’S GATE 3.

Jane’s theatre credits as director include DADDY ISSUES (Seven Dials Playhouse), THE APOLOGISTS (London 2019-20, and Sydney 2021 – nominated for the Sydney Theatre Awards) and IT’S NOT LIKE IT’S ILLEGAL (Theatre Royal Stratford East). She directed the premiere of DIAMOND by BAFTA-winning writer-director Beryl Richards, produced by BBC Arts and Avalon, at the Bush Theatre (London) and Underbelly (Edinburgh). She has also directed productions for Mountview, Arts Ed and the University of Birmingham, including DANCE NATION (Clare Barron) SWEET CHARITY (Cy Coleman, Neil Simon, Dorothy Fields), ORPHEUS DESCENDING (Tennessee Williams), AS YOU LIKE IT (Shakespeare), QUEEN MARGARET (Jeanie O’Hare).

She is currently developing a new musical with Birmingham Hippodrome (UK) and Musical Stage Company (Canada).

Jane has been an Associate Director on multiple acclaimed West End productions. She has an ongoing collaborative relationship with directors Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Crown), and Justin Martin (Prima Facie, Inter Alia).

She was the Associate Director on the West End production of PRIMA FACIE starring Jodie Comer in 2022, which transferred to Broadway in 2023, winning the Tony & Olivier Awards for Best Actress and Olivier Award for Best New Play. The cinema broadcast of Prima Facie - NT Live was the highest-grossing Event Cinema release of all time in the UK & Ireland. Jane was the Associate Director on the West End production of KYOTO @sohoplace, nominated for Best New Play at the 2025 Olivier Awards, and the National Theatre production of THE LAND OF THE LIVING by David Lan, starring Juliet Stevenson. In 2019 she was Resident Director on the West End production of THE INHERITANCE directed by Stephen Daldry, which transferred to Broadway, and won the Olivier and Tony awards for Best Play and Best Direction. Jane was Assistant Director on the West End production of THE BIRTHDAY PARTY (Harold Pinter Theatre) starring Toby Jones, Stephen Mangan and Zoe Wanamaker, produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.

Jane was previously Resident Director at the National Theatre Studio, working on the development of new plays and musicals. Jane studied at UCC (Ireland) and UC Berkeley (California), and graduated as a director from Mountview (London).
